Kicking off a slate of eight potential matches involving Thorns FC players during this current FIFA window, the U.S. Womenā€™s National Team squared off against Japan in a rematch of the 2015 FIFA Womenā€™s World Cup final and Nadia Nadim and Denmark took on Slovakia in 2017 UEFA EURO qualifying.

United States 3, Japan 3
Returning to her home state of Colorado, Thorns FC midfielder Lindsey Horan looked poised to play hometown hero on Thursday night in a thrilling match with Japan at Dickā€™s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

The native of Golden beat three defenders to a ball in the box, heading a cross from defender Kelley Oā€™Hara into the back of the net to put the United States in front 3-2 in the 89th minute. But Japan equalized deep in second-half stoppage time, despite being down a player as the match finished in a 3-3 draw.

Thorns FC midfielder Tobin Heath and defender Meghan Klingenberg both started the match. Heath continues to rack up the assists and did so with another beautiful free kick, setting up Alex Morgan as she equalized in the 64th minute to make it a 2-2 score line.
