With the 2016-2017 season coming to a close this weekend, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy named Timbers Academy players U-15/16 defender Lorenzo Lopez (U-15/16) and forward Lucas Cini (U17/18) to the Western Conference Best XI.

Lopez played 34 games this season (33 starts) and scored one goal during the Timbers U-16 campaign. On the Timbers U-18 side, Cini led his team with 16 goals in 30 games (28 starts) while also appearing in one game for Portland Timbers 2 of the USL.

The end of the year award winners, including Players and Coaches of the Year as well as Conference Best XI's, were announced at its pre-Academy Championships kickoff Banquet on Thursday. Award recipients represent the top youth players in the United States, with a large number receiving call ups to U.S. Youth National Team camps and tournaments throughout the season.
