Timbers Academy trio called in to U.S. national team camps

PORTLAND, Ore. – Three players will represent the Green & Gold at U.S. youth national team camps. Timbers Academy defender Sawyer Jura and midfielder Ian Shaul join the U-17s camp, while forward Noah Santos has been called into U-16s camp.

Both the U.S. U-17 and U-16 camps are being held concurrently at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif, from Aug. 18-24.

Both Jura and Shaul are among 12 players called into their first U-17s training camp by head coach Gonzalo Segares.

The camp is the next step in the U-17 U.S. National Team cycle, preparing to compete in the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship in February.

Shaul’s call-up comes after a successful 2021-22 MLS NEXT campaign, which culminated with a spot on the MLS NEXT All-Star squad earlier this month.

Santos was named the MVP of the U-15 GA Cup in April after helping the Timbers Academy win the GA Cup title.
