Timbers Announce Portland Timbers Corporate Cup

Soccer Balls, 4.5.11

PORTLAND, Ore.— The Portland Timbers today announced that the inaugural Portland Timbers Corporate Cup will be contested on the weekend of July 8-10 and Saturday, July 30. The corporate-based adult soccer tournament will benefit local non-profit organization and Timbers Pillar Partner, Portland YouthBuilders.

This July, men and women from around the Pacific Northwest will step out of their cubicles and onto the soccer pitch to participate in an event designed to boost employee morale, cultivate professional networks and engage the regional business community in supporting Portland YouthBuilders.

Businesses can choose from two levels of competition, which provide an opportunity for both advanced and recreational teams to join in the fun. Registration for the event runs through Tuesday, May 31, so interested employees should assemble their corporate squads soon.

The qualifying portion of the tournament will take place at the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District PCC Rock Creek facility from Friday, July 8, through Sunday, July 10. The weekend’s matches will feature bracket play in the men’s and co-ed divisions.

Three weeks later, on Saturday, July 30, the finalists from the qualifying rounds will play for the championship on the pitch of JELD-WEN Field, just hours before the Timbers play host to Toronto FC. The champions will get to take in the Timbers match that night from VIP guest seats at JELD-WEN Field.
