Timbers Champions of Play grant process now open for Portland metro area K-5 P.E. classrooms

Champions of Play Update, 9.12.18

Calling all Portland metro area K-5 Physical Education classrooms!

We believe in the importance of play, as well as the health and wellness for our elementary school students. Unfortunately, many local P.E. programs are severely lacking in equipment for children to play and thrive.

Thanks to the support of Allstate, Champions of Play will support quality physical education for our next generation of leaders by providing over $12,000 of physical education equipment to 10 local schools this school year, dispersed into a fall and spring cycle. The fall cycle grants were awarded to Gilbert Park, Hall, Harrison Park, Lincoln Park, Rigler Elementary Schools.

During the spring cycle, grants of $1,250 worth of equipment will be awarded to five different P.E. programs in Portland-Metro area elementary schools!

The equipment will be delivered to each selected school with a PTFC assembly to showcase the importance of play and provide youth with the tools they need to live healthy and active lives.

If you know of or work in a local school with a physical education program in need, apply today! Application deadline is Friday, March 1, 2019. Please send completed applications to Kaitlyn Jones at kjones@timbers.com. If selected, a PTFC staff member will reach out!
