With a second-half header goal from Zac McGraw, the Portland Timbers finished the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational preseason tournament with a 1-0 win over New York City FC on Saturday afternoon. The victory marked the Timbers’ second win in the preseason tournament, returning home from their Coachella Valley Invitational debut undefeated (2-0-1).

Preseason Tournament Highlights
In their first 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational, the Timbers recorded two wins and a draw, scoring a total of seven goals. Portland downed LA Galaxy 4-1 to kick off the tournament, drew 2-2 against Toronto FC in the second match, and finished the tournament with today’s 1-0 win over New York City FC. Six different players scored at least one goal (Fogaça, Evander, McGraw, Mosquera, Niezgoda, Paredes) while four tallied at least one assist (Evander, McCartney, Niezgoda, Williamson). Evander scored two goals in the preseason tournament while Eryk Williamson recorded two assists. Notably, Evander and Juan David Mosquera both notched their first goal in Green and Gold against LA Galaxy. Additionally, David Bingham earned his first two wins with Portland in the preseason tournament, allowing one goal in two matches.
