Velde earns Team of the Matchday honors after contributing to all three of Portland goals in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over San Diego FC
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers forward Kristoffer Velde has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 21, the league announced today.
Velde, 26, led Portland’s attack with a goal and two assists in a 3-1 win over San Diego FC at Providence Park on Wednesday night. It brought his season tally to 13 goal contributions (5G, 8A) in the 2026 campaign, tied for the most on the team with Kevin Kelsy (9G, 4A). The performance marked the Norwegian striker’s third multi-goal contribution match of the year. Notably, three of Velde’s seven career MLS goals have come against San Diego, including the 2025 postseason.
