PORTLAND, Ore.
- Portland Timbers goalkeeper Josh Saunders is scheduled to undergo X-rays Friday morning at 8 a.m. after sustaining a hip injury in a 2-1 loss to the Rochester Raging Rhinos at PGE Park Thursday night.
Saunders suffered a contusion to his left hip while making a diving stop of Chris Carrieri’s shot in the 55th minute. The second-year Timbers goalkeeper had to be taken off the field on a stretcher by medical personnel and was replaced by rookie Bayard Elfvin as play resumed in the 60th minute.
Timbers medical officials estimate that Saunders could be out anywhere from a week to two months, depending on the severity of the injury.
