Goalkeeper
Bayard Elfvin
, who played for the Timbers in 2004 and 2006, recently signed a contract with the California Cougars of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) on February 6. The veteran indoor goalkeeper was the Cougars’ second selection, and the fourth overall pick in the 2006 MISL dispersal draft.
“We’re excited to have an experienced indoor player of Elfvin’s caliber,” Cougars coach
Bernie Lilavois
said. “He brings an added level of playing ability that can help us get that playoff spot.”
Last year with the Timbers, Elfvin, played in six matches, recording 25 saves and three shutouts.
A four-year MISL veteran, Elvfin has played for the Cleveland Force (2004-2005), St. Louis Steamers (2006) and now the Cougars.
Elfvin, a graduate of Ashland University (OH), was a four-year letter winner and a two-time All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selection for the Eagles. Bayard ended his career as the school’s all-time leader in shutouts (14) and goals-against average (1.23); he had a career record of 31-12-2.
The Cougars are a second-year MISL team based in Stockton, Calif.
