Having defeated D.C. United 4-0 last week at Providence Park, the Portland Timbers punched their ticket into the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs. This Sunday on MLS Decision Day, presented by AT&T, Portland plays host to Vancouver Whitecaps FC (1pm PT, ROOT SPORTS, presented by Dutch Bros.) in a match that will determine where Portland will be seeded heading into the playoffs and which game they will host. Here's all the scenarios:
Portland Timbers will clinch No. 1 seed in Western Conference IF:
- Portland Timbers win vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday
Portland Timbers will clinch a Knockout Round bye IF:
- Portland Timbers tie vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday
AND
- Seattle Sounders FC tie or lose vs. Colorado Rapids on Sunday
AND
- Sporting Kansas City tie or lose vs. Real Salt Lake on Sunday
