PORTLAND, Ore.
- Portland Timbers defender Scot Thompson, on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS, will be recalled for the Galaxy’s match at Columbus this Saturday, Sept. 4.
Thompson will be back with the Timbers in time for Sunday’s Western Conference Semifinal match at Seattle and is expected to make the start.
The recall came as a result of four Galaxy regulars being called up for various national team duties in 2006 World Cup qualifying matches this weekend.
A key component of an improved Portland defense, Thompson has appeared in every game with the Timbers since being loaned to the club from Los Angeles on July 8.
