Timbers, Thorns FC fans and partners raise total of $579,448 for Ukraine

PTFC For Peace charity match items auctioned off for $36,522

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers and Thorns FC raised a total of $579,448, which includes a $100,000 donation from the club, for UNICEF’s relief efforts in Ukraine with the help of fans and partners through the PTFC For Peace charity match, the club announced today. The donation tally came to an end as the PTFC For Peace auction closed on May 5, where player-signed items from the match raised $36,522.

The Timbers and Thorns FC hosted PTFC For Peace at Providence Park on April 27 – a historic mixed teams, U.S. first division charity match to raise funds for Ukrainian children and families affected by the war. Players from both teams took the field together for the first time, playing a 60-minute match between Team Yellow and Team Blue in front of 16,921 fans. Team Yellow, coached by Giovanni Savarese, captained by Christine Sinclair and Sebastián Blanco, came out on top with a 4-3 victory over Team Blue, coached by Rhian Wilkinson, captained by Kelli Hubly and Diego Chara.
