West Group 5 winners Timbers will travel to St. Louis to face West Group 3 runner-up; Kickoff is TBD
Forty-seven clubs started Leagues Cup 2024, and now it’s down to 32. It’s time for the knockout rounds.
As winners of West Group 5, the Portland Timbers will travel to face West Group 3 runner-up St. Louis CITY SC in the Leagues Cup Round of 32 on Friday, Aug. 9 at CITYPARK; kickoff is 5:30pm PT and the match will be available to stream on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
The Timbers defeated Club León, 2-1, on July 28, and then the Colorado Rapids, 4-0, on Aug. 1, at Providence Park to finish atop West Group 5 and earn their place in League Cup’s knockout rounds. Portland has outscored Leagues Cup opponents 6-1, seeing five different goal-scorers.
St. Louis earned a 2-1 over FC Dallas on July 27, and then lost to vs. FC Juárez in PKs on Sunday evening.
Seeding and home field advantage was determined before the tournament based a tiered ranking system that combined MLS and LIGA MX club performance from the 34 last regular season matches played over the 2023 season. For more information, click here.
