Timbers U-23s' Youngblood named PDL all-conference

PORTLAND, Ore.
– Portland Timbers U-23s forward
Ryan Youngblood
was named to the Premier Development League’s All-Western Conference Team, it was announced today by United Soccer Leagues.




The PDL’s four all-conference teams were voted on by team coaches and general managers and honor 44 of the league’s top players.




Youngblood played in 14 games for the Timbers U-23s in their inaugural season. He led the team in scoring and ranked among the PDL’s top goal scorers with 11 goals. A native of Bend, Ore., Youngblood was also selected as the PDL Player of the Week for the 11th week of the season on July 15.




“Ryan is a hard-working player and leader,” said Timbers U-23s head coach
Jim Rilatt
. “He scored some important goals for us throughout the season.”




In 2009, the Timbers U-23s finished second in the Western Conference’s Northwest Division with a record of 11-3-2 (35pts) and advanced to the playoffs. In its first PDL season, Portland scored a division-high 43 goals and was unbeaten at home (6-0-2) during the regular season.
