PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing the first of two road matches in four days, T2 will travel to play OKC Energy FC at Taft Stadium on Wednesday, May 24, before traveling to ONEAK Field to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday, May 27. Set to begin at 5 p.m. (Pacific), Wednesday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.
The match on Wednesday marks the first of two scheduled matches against Energy FC this season, as both teams will meet again at Providence Park on Friday, June 16. In the last meeting between the two clubs, T2 defeated OKC 4-0 on Sept. 4, 2016, in Portland. Three different players scored in the win for T2, with midfielder Villyan Bijev recording a brace, midfielder Blake Bodily and forward Augustine Williams each tallying a goal apiece, and midfielder Andre Lewis recording two assists.
T2 (1-7-1, 4pts) enter Wednesday’s road match after earning a point in a scoreless draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Providence Park as part of Providence Health & Fitness Day on May 10. Goalkeeper Wade Hamilton recorded his second shutout of the season in his third start this year, making three saves.
OKC Energy FC (2-4-1, 7pts) enters Wednesday’s match following a 1-0 win over Orange County SC at Taft Stadium on May 20, which improved their record to 2-1-0 at home this season. Midfielder Alex Dixon, who last scored in the 1-0 win over Orange County, leads the team with two goals scored this season, while goalkeeper Cody Laurendi leads the team with 15 saves and two shutouts.
Following Wednesday’s match, T2 will travel to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC at ONEAK Field on Saturday; kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. (Pacific).
Roughnecks FC (4-4-0, 12pts) will face Reno 1868 FC on Wednesday, May 24, at Greater Nevada Field before taking on T2 three days later. In its last match, Tulsa fell 3-2 to Sacramento Republic FC at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento on May 20. Forward Ian Svantesson and midfielder Joey Calistri are tied for the team lead in goals scored (4), while midfielder Juan Pablo Caffa ranks second on the team in goals scored (3) and leads the team with three assists. Portland is undefeated (3-0-0) in three all-time meetings against Tulsa. In the last matchup between the two clubs, T2 defeated Roughnecks FC 2-0 at ONEAK Field on April 23, 2016.
