Defender
Leonard Griffin
talks about what it's like to play on the Timbers' backline, some of the challenges that lay ahead in Puerto Rico and Miami and the importance of the 0-0 draws last week againast Rochester and Seattle in Video News.
In his second season with the Timbers, Griffin, has been a sturdy member of the team's backline that has allowed just one goal and recorded four shutouts in the first five games of the season.
In 2007, Griffin and the Timbers backline allowed only 18 goals in 28 matches - the fewest in the league. Their 18 goals allowed set a new modern-franchise record for the fewest goals allowed in a single season.
The Timbers square off against the Puerto Rico Islanders at Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium on Friday at 5 p.m. (Pacific) and Miami FC Blues at Tropical Park Stadium on Sunday at 3 p.m. (Pacific).
A live broadcast of both matches is available at www.portlandtimbers.com, with a live video webcast available through USL Live at www.usllive.com/portland.
