First-year midfielder Miguel Guante touches on the Timbers' start to the 2008 USL First Division season, gives the play-by-play on his first goal of the season and opens up on how he became a member of the Timbers in Video News.
Guante, 24, has played in two of the Timbers' first three games of the season and netted his first goal of the year against the Seattle Sounders on April 26 at PGE Park. He joined the Timbers in December after a rookie season with the Miami FC Blues in 2007.
Last October, Guante appeared as a guest player for the Timbers in an exhibition match against Major League Soccer's Toronto FC at PGE Park. Earning the start, Guante, a University of Portland alum, tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-1 Portland victory.
Following a 12-day break between regular-season matches, the Timbers face the Rochester Raging Rhinos in their next match on Thurs., May 8 at PGE Park at 7 p.m. Tickets, starting at $11, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online or by calling (503) 224-4400.
