Portland's first cross-conference matchup since late April, they welcome Chicago to Providence Park.
Currently on a three-game unbeaten/shutout streak, the Portland Timbers are back home Wednesday night for a midweek cross-conference matchup with Chicago Fire FC (7:30pm PT, TICKETS, Free on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV).
Portland (9th, 5-7-6, 21pts) currently hangs on to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference amidst a compact mid-table where just five points separate positions 6-12. The visiting Fire (14th, 3-6-8, 17pts), are in the midst of a battle with Inter Miami to leave the bottom of the Eastern Conference, sitting penultimate in the standings, but only five points from playoffs territory. Wednesday is the first regular-season matchup between the two clubs since August 2019, and 10th all-time. It's the Rose City and the Windy City meeting at Providence Park on matchday 19.
Here are five facts to know ahead of this cross-conference, midweek matchup.
