PORTLAND, Ore.
– United Soccer Leagues announced today that Portland Timbers U-23s forward
Ryan Youngblood
was selected as the Premier Development League’s Player of the Week for the 11th week of the season.
Youngblood, a native of Bend, Ore., recorded five goals and an assist last weekend to lead the Timbers U-23s to road wins over the Spokane Spiders and Yakima Reds. The two victories helped Portland clinch one of three playoff berths in the Northwest Division in its inaugural season.
With his five goals last weekend, Youngblood now paces the Timbers U-23s in scoring with 10 goals and three assists. He also ranks among PDL leaders in both scoring and goals scored. He is the first-ever Timbers U-23s player to be selected as the PDL Player of the Week.
The Timbers U-23s play host to the Abbotsford Mariners in their regular-season finale Saturday at Lincoln High School in Portland, Ore., at 7 p.m., presented by Oregon Premier Soccer League. Tickets, priced at $5 for kids 18 and younger and $8 for adults, will be available at the door; gates open at 6 p.m.
Portland will face the Seattle Wolves in the first round of the divisional playoffs; details to be announced at a later date.
