Gordon to make autograph appearance Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore.
– A farewell celebration will be held for former Portland Timbers striker Alan Gordon, who had his contract purchased by the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS last week. Gordon will return to Portland to meet with fans and sign autographs at Sports Dreams at Clackamas Town Center Mall on Sunday, Dec. 12 from 1-3 p.m. Representatives from the Portland Timbers will be on hand with ticket information for the 2005 season.




2005 DRAFT SET


United Soccer Leagues (USL) announced the 2005 USL First Division College Player Draft will be held the afternoon of Tuesday, January 18th, 2005 via conference call. Each of the 12 USL First Division teams will have one pick in each of two rounds. The Timbers, who finished 2004 with the league’s best record, will hold the last pick in both rounds. The Timbers selected 2004 A-League Rookie of the Year, Alan Gordon, with their first pick (ninth overall) in last year’s draft.

United Soccer Leagues unveiled Friday its new series of league logos and the new look of its website USLsoccer.com. The release of the new logos and updated website is the completion of the re-branding process that began with the restructuring of its professional division in November to a two-tiered format that saw the league names become USL First Division and USL Second Division.
