Timbers will debut new uniform sponsor Saturday against Seattle

PORTLAND, Ore.
- The Portland Timbers will debut their new uniform sponsor Saturday when they go toe-to-toe with the Seattle Sounders in a preseason rivalry exhibition at PGE Park.

The Timbers will change gears and celebrate a new corporate partnership by sporting the company’s logo on the front of their home and road jerseys for the 2005 campaign.

The Timbers kick off against their archrivals, the Seattle Sounders, on Saturday evening at PGE Park. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

The event is the first of the season for the revenge-minded Portland club, who lost to Seattle in the first round of last year’s playoffs despite garnering the top record in the league, at 18-7-3.

“In soccer terms it’s considered a ‘friendly’ but I suspect there won’t be much friendly about it other than perhaps some pre-match pleasantries,” Timbers general manager Jim Taylor said.

Earlier in the day, Timbers players and coaches will be conducting clinics and signing autographs at the first annual Oregon Soccer Show at the Oregon Convention Center, beginning at 9 a.m.

Fans can enter to win a variety of prizes, including tickets to the English exhibition against Sunderland AFC on July 23 and the MLS showdown with the Landon Donovan and the Los Angeles Galaxy next Wednesday, April 13.

Individual tickets for both preseason exhibitions against Seattle and Los Angeles are now on sale at area Ticketmaster outlets and at the PGE Park box office.

Fans interested in group outings, season tickets or a variety of great mini-plan options should contact the Timbers ticket office at (503) 553-5555.
