TOURNAMENT DAY: you got to love it, nothing but straight up competition, small-sized fields, 3 v 3, one sub, best team wins. Nothing but bragging and boasting, arguing and fighting for every point on the field.

Chris chose the teams, completely fair and impartial, though my team dominated the competition. And even though we lost in the finals, we destroyed everyone. Sergio, Luke, Hugo, and I killed teams by three or more goals. 5 and 0 with our biggest win over Lee’s squad 6-3. I mean when you score 4 goals in the first minute you kind of start to relax and hassle the other team. HAHA. But we did lose in the finals, after a long break while we waited for the semifinal game to finish. I’ll blame the management for that loss…poor scheduling by tournament officials!

Bayard by far was the MVP out of all the teams. There’s nothing like watching a 6’ 0 keeper from Ohio dribbling down a small-sided field and taking a wind up bigger than Bonds at the plate, only to smack the ball 60 ft, no joke, over the goal and into the far end score board. Seriously though the boy did score some goals and eventually helped his team win the whole thing…even if my team did have the best record of 5-1.

Today was a light day for guys who played over the weekend; eleven of us jogged and stretched while the rest played a reserve game versus a local team. There’s nothing funnier than watching Gavin almost get into a fight with one of their players over a bad tackle, or Tommy yelling at a 35-year-old, telling him how slow he is. Pure comedy, and even though the score was somewhat of a joke, it’s always good to get those games in during the week.

I remember when I was with the Galaxy and I had to play in those ALLLLL the time. One of those downsides of being a professional bench warmer in MLS except in those games I had to be a the stadium at 7 pm after driving an hour and a half in traffic. GOOD TIMES.

Anyway, today’s practice wasn’t my main concern…luckily through the front office I was given some free passes to an advanced screening of X-Men 3. Now, if you don’t know me, I’m a cartoon junkie. My mom was livid with me every Saturday morning, as I sat for at least 5 hours with my bowl of Fruity Pebbles, watching every cartoon from GI Joe and Transformers to X-Men and Dragon Ball Z. I must admit I did watch some Pokemon in high school, but let's keep that on the down-low…I’m trying to keep this rep going of being hard with these stitches over my eye.

So I’m off to the movies with my bag of Twizzlers and my roommate, I’ll let you guys know how the movie is next time.

Meanwhile, here's another poem I've written recently.

Guiding Light

Why do you cry little girl

Why do you cry

Do you not believe your eyes

Those brown crystals of knowledge and foresight

They tell you what to see

But your tears wash away reality

And your mind paints a picture with muddied waters that should not be

Believe me

Your eyes see more than you give them credit

For the lies the mind tries to portray are nothing more than a blade of grass

On a cool spring day

Don’t wish for summer when spring is a relief from winter

Don’t look outside, strength comes from the center

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, whom you have no control over

Blind the beholder and cry no longer

Each of us

A lighthouse

And yes many ships in the sea

But only those that follow

Synergy shall ever be

So do not cry little girl

Weep not for thee

I see your guiding light

And its beauty is blinding me
