PORTLAND, Ore.
– Portland Timbers goalkeeper Josh Saunders was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week Nine, it was announced today.
Saunders earned the honor after making five saves during Saturday’s 0-0 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Saunders also recorded his third shutout of the season, and his 21st in four seasons with the Timbers.
The accolades were the first this season for Saunders, who has earned Team of the Week honors three times since joining the Timbers in 2003.
Next up for the Timbers is a trip to Minnesota to take on the Thunder on Thursday, June 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. (Pacific).
