PORTLAND, Ore.
– Portland Timbers midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer and goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin were named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 10, it was announced today.
Elfvin was selected after making his first start in goal for the Timbers on Sunday. The keeper, who also played for Portland in 2004, made 10 saves against the Montreal Impact to collect the shutout and secure a valuable road point for the Timbers.
Kreamalmeyer earned the honor after opening the scoring for the Timbers in their 2-1 win at Minnesota on Thursday. Kreamalmeyer then scored the tying goal at Rochester on Saturday, his third strike of the season for the Timbers.
The accolades were the first this season for both players.
After an 11-day break from action, the Timbers travel north to visit the Vancouver Whitecaps on June 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
