PORTLAND, Ore.
– Portland Timbers midfielder Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 14, it was announced today.
Alcaraz-Cuellar scored the team’s lone goal Friday night against Seattle, making good on a free-kick opportunity in stoppage time in a 2-1 loss to the Sounders at PGE Park.
The veteran Timbers midfielder, who shares the First Division lead in assists, ranks second on the team and is tied for 11th in the league with 11 points on three goals and five assists. Alcaraz-Cuellar has played in all 20 matches for the Timbers this season and ranks seventh among First Division players in minutes played (1,665).
Next up for the Timbers (5-10-5, 20pts) are the final two road matches of the season, when the team travels to Virginia Beach (July 27) and Toronto (July 29) to conclude its regular-season road slate. The Timbers next home match is Friday, Aug. 4, when they play host to the Minnesota Thunder at PGE Park at 7 p.m. The match is the first of six straight home matches to round out the regular-season schedule.
