Gregor named to USL Team of the Week for Week 1

PORTLAND, Ore.
– Portland Timbers midfielder
Andrew Gregor
was selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 1, it was announced today. Gregor scored two goals in a 3-1 win over the Puerto Rico Islanders Saturday at PGE Park in the Timbers’ season opener.
Gregor, 31, scored his first goal of the year in the second minute against the Islanders. His 35-yard free kick bounced through a crowded box, past Islanders goalkeeper Josh Saunders, and inside the far post.
In the second half, with a 2-1 lead, Gregor capped the Timbers’ scoring with another long free kick. Lining up on the right post, Gregor’s 25-yard blast bent around a four-man wall and into the near upper corner to seal the Timbers 3-1 victory.
Starting his second season with the Timbers, Gregor previously played for Portland during the 2004 campaign. He recorded five goals and five assists with the Seattle Sounders in 2006.
The Timbers travel north to play the Seattle Sounders on May 5 at Qwest Field at 7 p.m. The match can be heard live on
