Timbers' U.S. Open Cup match at Seattle set

Tickets for second-round match go on sale Friday, June 15

 – U.S. Soccer recently announced the details of the Portland Timbers second-round U.S. Open Cup match against the Seattle Sounders. The Northwest rivals will meet at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash. on June 26 at 7 p.m.
The winner of the second-round match advances to face a Major League Soccer team in the third round of the annual tournament.
Tickets go on sale Friday for $13 and are available through www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (206) 628-0888. Tickets will be available at the gate for $15.
The Timbers (4-2-2, 14pts) have played the Sounders (4-4-4, 16pts) twice in regular-season action in 2007. Seattle leads the regular-season series with a record of 1-0-1. Having faced one another several times in previous seasons’ U.S. Open Cup qualifying matches, the Timbers and Sounders have only met once in tournament play – a 2-0 win by the Timbers at PGE Park in 2005.

The Timbers are 3-3-0 in U.S. Open Cup play since 2003 and have reached as high as the fourth round in 2004 and 2005.
Dating back to 1914, the U.S. Open Cup is one of the oldest cup competitions in North America and serves as U.S. Soccer’s national championship.
