AC Milan Primavera defender Matteo Darmian is only 17 years old. But his experiences with AC Milan’s first team and the Italian Youth National Team make him one of AC Milan's top youth prospects when they play the Timbers on June 19 at PGE Park.
Fresh off his appearances with the Italian U-19 National Team at the European U-19 Championships in Austria earlier this month, Darmian is the second youngest player in AC Milan history to make his senior-team debut – just four days before his 17
th
birthday.
Darmian made two total appearances with AC Milan’s first team during the 2006-07 season. The first was an Italian Cup match against Brescia in November and he then played 22 minutes of AC Milan’s Serie A match against Udinese in May.
The only player to ever make a debut for AC Milan at a younger age is former FIFA World Player of the Year and defender Paolo Maldini.
Now with international experience at the U-18 and U-19 levels, Darmian continues to be one of Italy’s and AC Milan’s top youth prospects.
Darmian and AC Milan Primavera (U-21) battle the Timbers on Tuesday, June 19 at PGE Park at 7 p.m.
