Josh Wicks
and the Timbers backline were voted by fans on www.portlandtimbers.com as the Timbers Man of the Month for the month of June. Wicks and the defense recorded three shutouts and allowed just three goals in five league matches in June.
Wicks currently leads the league in fewest goals allowed (7), wins (7), shutouts (7), and goals-against average (0.58) and tied a franchise record for shutouts in a single season on June 30. Wicks also earned his first career assist in a road win against the California Victory on June 28.
The Timbers backline, consisting of
Scot Thompson
,
Justin Thompson
,
Cameron Knowles
and
Leonard Griffin
, helped the Timbers to a 3-1-1 record in league matches in June and posted three shutouts. Both Griffin and Justin Thompson also contributed on offense each scoring a goal in June.
Portland plays host to the California Victory on Friday and Sunday at PGE Park. Friday’s match is

Bobblehead Night presented by Toyota; the first 1,500 fans will receive a bobblehead of the long-time Timbers icon. Friday’s match will also be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel; kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Kickoff for Sunday’s match is 6 p.m.
