Hague selected as July's Man of the Month

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers forward David Hague was voted by fans as the team’s “Man of the Month” for July. In seven matches in July, Hague recorded three goals and an assist and earned USL First Division Player of the Week honors.

Fans voted through a poll on the Timbers official website www.portlandtimbers.com.

Hague, who is second on the team in scoring, scored all three goals on July 15 in a 4-1 victory over the California Victory at PGE Park. His hat trick was the first one of the 2007 season and the first in the entire USL First Division. With his three-goal performance, Hague earned USL First Division Player of the Week honors for Week 13.

The England native recorded an assist on the game-winning goal by Chris Bagley on July 21 against the Atlanta Silverbacks on the road.

In 16 games with the Timbers this season, Hague has played 552 minutes and recorded four goals and two assists for 10 points.

Hague, a rookie from Grand Canyon University, led the NCAA in scoring last season with 33 goals including five hat tricks – a GCU school record.

The Timbers play host to the Minnesota Thunder on Thursday at PGE Park before facing the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. Kickoff for both matches is 7 p.m. On Saturday, the first 1,000 kids receive a mini Nike soccer ball courtesy of Tursi’s Soccer Store on Nike Night at PGE Park.
