84th: Off a Portland free kick, Scot Thompson's header bounces between Timbers Cameron Knowles and Justin Thompson at the edge of the six, but the two hesitate over who will take the shot and the lightly-hit effort is straight into the arms of Minnesota keeper Nic Platter..




83rd: Minnesota works a give-and-go between Tenoff and Toure, but Toure doesn't strike the ball cleanly and the shot is deflected clear.




81st: Substitution (MIN): Leo Gibson off for Keisuke Ota.




78th: Portland's first real chance of the second half, as Harrington forces Platter to lunge left to parry his shot from outside the area, but Minnesota clears the rebound




77th: Substitution (POR): A change in attack, as Luc Harrington comes on for Matt Taylor.




73rd: Substitution (MIN): Ansu Toure on for Darren Spicer. 




69th: Substitution (MIN) Gotsmanov on to replace Zenozi.  Back-to-back corners for Portland, but Minnesota's Kevin Taylor, the tallest player on the field, seems to win every header .  Taylor is man-marking the Timbers' Lawrence Olum on every set piece.




66th: Substitution (POR): Hague on for Jordan.  Both sides relying on the long pass, with neither team having any sort of sustained offensive buildup.  No shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of the second half.

Halftime: Minnesota without a shot on goal in the first half, Portland with only two, but neither seriously challenged the Thunder' keeper.

37th: A scrum in the area forces Minnesota 'keeper Nic Platter to try to punch the ball over but the ball rebounds off the crossbar and bounces back into play.  A Timber foul gives possession to Minnesota.




21st: Dangerous free kick coming for the Timbers as Portland's Matt Taylor is brought down just at the top of the circle, 25 yards from goal.  A trio of Timbers around the ball: Kreamalmeyer, Griffin and Taylor...Taylor's right footed shot bounces just wide of the left post.




18th: The pace has slowed for both teams since the game's opening minutes ... play is much more concentrated in midfield and both teams have become more physical.  Cameron Knowles picks up the game's first caution after a hard tackle on Minnesota's Freddy Juarez.




9th: Minnesota's first real chance of the match, as Portland 'keeper Josh Wicks is forced to punch Kevin Friedland's cross over the endline.  The Thunder corner kick is headed clear by Portland's Lawrence Olum.




6th minute: Portland takes the game's first shot, as Brian Jordan attempts to redirect Scot Thompson's cross from the right.  One minute later, Luke Kreamalmeyer shoots over from the left corner of the area.  Timbers controlling the tempo in the early going here, as much of the play has been in Minnesota's defensive half.
