Edozien named Player of the WeekTAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced the USL First Division Team of the Week for the 18th week of the season, honoring Carolina’s Connally Edozien as the Player of the Week. In desperate need of points to climb back into playoff position, the RailHawks blasted southern rival Charleston, another side in the race for a playoff spot, last Tuesday 3-0 on a hat-trick from Connally Edozien. Edozien put the RailHawks up in just the sixth minute of play and never looked back. Edozien was given time inside the Battery penalty area and slammed the ball to the far post after a controlling touch, leaving Battery goalkeeper Dusty Hudock helpless.Edozien put his second of the night on the board in the 41st minute against the run of play. The RailHawks’ Chris Carrieri ran onto a ball played from the back and knifed a pass inside the Battery penalty to Phillip Long, who found Edozien with a heel-flick. Again, Edozien had little trouble beating a stranded Hudock. He completed the hat-trick put the game out of reach in the 66th minute, out-jumping the Battery defenders to head home a Kupono Low corner kick.   The victory also gave the RailHawks their first trophy as they clinched the Southern Derby Cup contested between the Battery, RailHawks and Atlanta Silverbacks, whom the RailHawks would go on to play to a scoreless draw Friday to complete the three-way derby.
