Timbers near all-time attendance record

PORTLAND
, Ore. –
The Portland Timbers have a chance to set a new modern-franchise record for regular-season attendance on Thursday when they play host to the Charleston Battery at PGE Park in their regular-season home finale. The Timbers are only 7,888 fans away from breaking the previous record of 87,648 set in 2002.

In 2002, the Timbers set the modern franchise record with 87,648 fans attending 14 regular-season matches at PGE Park.
In their last two matches, the Timbers have averaged 8,471 fans per game at PGE Park. On Aug. 11, the largest regular-season crowd of the season – 8,652 fans – watched the Timbers record their 12th shutout of the season against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Timbers host Jersey-Off-Our-Back Night Thursday at PGE Park as they take on the Battery. Fans have opportunity to take home their favorite Timbers player jersey through a silent auction held before and during the game. Proceeds from the second-annual auction will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The first 2,000 fans on a Miller Lite Thursday presented by Jammin’ 95.5 will receive a Timbers cap courtesy of Volkswagen. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets, starting at $10, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400.
