FSC to broadcast Timbers' Sept. 16 playoff match

PORTLAND

The Portland Timbers’ first-round, home playoff match at PGE Park on Sept. 16, presented by Spirit Mountain Casino, will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel, it was announced today by the United Soccer Leagues. Kickoff will remain at 5 p.m.
The Timbers clinched a playoff berth with a 2-2 draw against the Minnesota Thunder on Aug. 16. A first-round opponent for the Timbers has not been determined.

The 2007 USL First Division playoffs begin on Sept. 14, with the first two rounds consisting of a two-game, aggregate goals series. A champion will be determined in a one-game final hosted by one of the two finalists.
The Timbers play their final match of the 2007 regular season on Sunday against the Vancouver Whitecaps at Swangard Stadium at 4 p.m. With either a win Sunday or a loss by the Montreal Impact on Saturday, Portland can become the first team in USL First Division history to record a turnaround season that could see them go from last place one season (2006) to finishing in the top two the next.
