The Portland Timbers have signed forward
Bryan Jordan
to a new two-year contract, it was announced today. As a rookie, Jordan is the Timbers’ second leading scorer this season.
“Signing Bryan to a new contract is a great step for the Timbers organization,” said head coach and general manager
Gavin Wilkinson
. “He’s a hard working, dedicated player and displays the mentality this organization has adopted. With six players under contract for next season, even now, we are starting to build a core of players for 2008.”
Jordan, 22, recorded five goals and an assist in 26 matches during the regular season. He was a two-time USL First Division Team of the Week selection after tallying two goals and an assist in the first full month of the 2007 season. Jordan was also selected by fans as the team’s “Man of the Month” for the month of May.
“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Jordan. “The Timbers have a great coaching staff, great fans and are great teammates. Playing in Portland allows me a chance to continue to develop and display my abilities. I’m excited to be back.”

The Timbers face the Atlanta Silverbacks in the semifinal round of the 2007 USL First Division playoffs this weekend. Portland will host the second match of the two-game, total-goals series on Sunday at PGE Park at 5 p.m., presented by OHSU, on Fox Soccer Channel. Both matches of the semifinal series will be broadcast live on
