Timbers Notebook: Offseason? Not yet.

PORTLAND, Ore. –
While the calendar might suggest the Portland Timbers have entered the “offseason,” the club remains busy preparing for an exhibition match against Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC at the end of the month and will host a women’s soccer clinic led by two international soccer stars on Saturday.
The Timbers have continued their training for the past three weeks in preparation for an exhibition match against Toronto FC at PGE Park on Oct. 28. Meanwhile Toronto FC is nearing the end of its inaugural regular-season schedule and will play its finale on Saturday against the New England Revolution at BMO Field. Toronto FC features players with both international experience and experience abroad including rookie midfielder

who started in his debut with the U.S. National Team in a 1-0 win over Switzerland last week.
Tickets, starting at $12, will be available at the PGE Park box office on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are also available at local Ticketmaster outlets, online at

and by phone at (503) 224-4400. Kickoff on Oct. 28 is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Toronto FC will be the Timbers fourth exhibition opponent of the 2007 season. In exhibition play, the Timbers are 2-1-0 against MLS sides at PGE Park since 2001.

The Timbers have teamed up with University of Portland alumni and international soccer stars

to host a soccer clinic for 40 women at PGE Park on Saturday. The annual event is coordinated through the Oregon Adult Soccer Association and is open to women of all ages and abilities. Unfortunately there are no openings for the clinic on Saturday.
