Two days before the opening match of the 2008 season, the Portland Timbers conducted the team’s annual media day Tuesday at PGE Park. Both players and coaches participated in a series of interviews and photo shoots throughout the morning.
The Timbers open the 2008 USL First Division Thursday as they play host to the Puerto Rico Islanders at PGE Park at 7 p.m.

, the team participated in a full training session prior to meeting with members of the media and taping video elements for the Timbers’ USL Live broadcast.

At media day, were all 13 returning players from the 2007 team and new signings Chris Brown, Takayuki Suzuki, Vardan Adzemian, Miguel Guante, Scott Bolkan and goalkeepers Ray Burse and Jordan James.
On Thursday, the Timbers will honor long-time team icon Jim Serrill, better known as “Timber Jim,” who announced his retirement in January with Timber Jim Farewell Night as the Timbers face the Islanders. The first 1,000 fans receive a Farewell Timber Jim T-shirt presented by Shindaiwa and Opening Night 2008 schedule magnets courtesy of PGE.
