Little, Knowles earn Team of the Week honors

United Soccer Leagues announced today that Portland Timbers midfielder
Bryan Little
and defender
Cameron Knowles
were selected to the USL First Division Team of the Week in Week 5. It’s Knowles’ second consecutive Team of the Week selection, while Little earns his first of the season.
Knowles and Little aided in the team’s two-point road trip over the weekend, earning a 2-2 draw in Puerto Rico on Friday and a 0-0 tie against Miami on Sunday.
After entering the match in the second half, Little, 30, recorded his first assist of the season setting up forward

’s goal in the 83rd minute against the Puerto Rico Islanders to help the Timbers pull even for a 2-2 draw on May 16. Prior to joining the Timbers, Little was the leading scorer for Auckland City FC during the 2007-08 New Zealand Football Championship season.
Knowles, 25, and the Timbers backline recorded its fifth shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw against the Miami FC Blues on May 18. Portland limited Miami to just seven shots. The Timbers have allowed only three goals in seven matches this season, two of which came against Puerto Rico in the 2-2 draw. Since joining the Timbers in 2007, Knowles has played in 39 consecutive league matches, including the 2007 postseason.
The Timbers prepare for two home matches at PGE Park this weekend starting with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday at 7 p.m. Portland then faces Miami in a special day game on Monday for Memorial Day; kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
