Brown named June's "Man of the Month"

Through an online fan poll, forward Chris Brown was named the Portland Timbers “Man of the Month” for the month of June. During the Timbers busiest month of the 2008 season, Brown started all eight matches and logged three goals.
Brown, 31, currently leads the Timbers in scoring with five goals and one assist in 17 regular-season matches. But in June, Brown appeared in each of the club’s eight matches – six league, one U.S. Open Cup and one exhibition – and helped the Timbers capture wins over Italy’s Juventus Primavera (exhibition) and the Atlanta Silverbacks on June 28 by scoring two of this three goals in those matches.
His third goal came in a 3-2 loss to Hollywood United in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup tournament on June 10.
Joining the Timbers in 2008, Brown played the first nine seasons of his professional career in Major League Soccer with the Kansas City Wizards (1999-2002), New England Revolution (2002-03), San Jose Earthquakes (2003-04) and Real Salt Lake (2005-07).
The Timbers play host to top-tiered Mexican Club U.A.N.L. Tigres on July 15 at PGE Park at 7 p.m. Tigres features 2006 World Cup striker Francisco Fonseca, and is the only Mexican club to earn berths into the prestigious South American tournament Copa Libertadores.
