Olum named to First Division Team of the Week

United Soccer Leagues announced today that Portland Timbers midfielder
Lawrence Olum
was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for Week 14. He tallied his second goal of the season to help the Timbers earn a draw during a two-game road trip to Atlanta and Charleston.

Olum took advantage of a deflected shot inside the box and punched in the go-ahead goal in the 90th minute in a 1-1 draw against the Atlanta Silverbacks on July 18. His goal helped the Timbers finish the 2008 regular-season series against the Silverbacks with a 1-0-2 record and log a second straight season with a winning record against Atlanta.

It's his first USL First Division Team of the Week selection this season and the second of his career.
Olum, 24, has appeared in 13 games this season and totaled two goals in 625 minutes. He missed five games due to a hamstring injury in late May. The 2008 season marks his second with the Timbers.
The Timbers play host to the Carolina RailHawks on Thursday at PGE Park at 7 p.m. Tickets, starting at $11, are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400.
