Five players up for August "Man of the Month"

The Portland Timbers ended the month of August on the doorstep of the postseason. Among those who contributed to the Timbers' performance during month,  five players are up for the August “Man of the Month” honor. Vote today in the fan poll.
The five players nominated for the August “Man of the Month” award are defenders Cameron Knowles and Cameron Dunn, midfielders Shaun Higgins and Tom Poltl and forward Bryan Jordan.
Voting ends Monday, Sept. 6 at 12 noon.
Dunn, 24, joined the Timbers on Aug. 1 and made his first appearance of the season as a sub against the Seattle Sounders on Aug. 7 at PGE Park. Of his four appearances on the Timbers backline in August, three were starts.
Jordan, 22, made an instant impact on the field upon rejoining the Timbers on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. He started all five of the team’s games in August and recorded three goals and one assist. He was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week in each of the first three weeks of the month.
Knowles, 25, also started all five of Portland’s matches during the month of August. By starting each of the fixtures in August, he extended his streak of consecutive appearances in league matches to 57.
Higgins, 29, showed his versatility during the month of August playing at left midfield, right back and left back during his four appearances during the month. Higgins, who missed the team’s match on Aug. 2 at Minnesota due to a one-game, league-imposed suspension due to yellow card accumulation, has played in 23 matches for the Timbers this season and scored a goal.
Poltl, 28, started all five games during the month of August. He has been one of the most consistent members of the Timbers’ midfield this season appearing in 20 matches and has logged one assist.
