Timbers U-23s announce SolarWorld as jersey sponsor

PORTLAND, Ore.
– The Portland Timbers and SolarWorld, one of the largest solar energy companies in the world, announced today a new multi-year partnership that will feature SolarWorld as the official jersey sponsor for the Timbers U-23s, the organization’s new development team.




The Timbers U-23s will debut their new uniforms, featuring the SolarWorld name and logo on the front of the jersey, Saturday when they kick off their inaugural season in the Premier Development League.

The Timbers U-23s open their PDL season Saturday against the Victoria Highlanders at the Tualatin Hills Recreation Center in Beaverton, Ore., at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or through the PGE Park reception office near the corner of SW 20th Ave. and SW Morrison St. in downtown Portland.

Formed in November 2008, the Timbers U-23s serve as a development team for the organization’s first team, which competes in the USL First Division. Comprised of college players and local standouts, the Timbers U-23s are an amateur team and compete in the PDL’s Northwest Division.
