Notebook: Forward Warren Ukah on trial

PORTLAND

– Former Atlanta Silverbacks forward Warren Ukah has been on trial this week with the Portland Timbers. The six-year veteran has participated in training sessions with the team since Monday.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Ukah, played the past three seasons with Silverbacks and was a part of Atlanta’s 2007 squad that reached the USL First Division finals. In three seasons with Atlanta, Ukah, 24, played in 44 games and recorded 10 goals and one assist. He missed most of the 2008 season due to injury.
He started his career in 2003, with Jamaican club Village United F.C. before moving to the United States to play for the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL Second Division in 2004. In 2005, he played in 13 games for the Virginia Beach Mariners.
He will be on trial with the Timbers for the next few weeks.
