Go A-to-Z with Bright Dike

In his first professional season, forward Bright Dike has steadily become one of the Timbers’ highest scoring rookies in modern franchise history. Get to know more about the Fighting Irish alum off the field in a special edition of the feature A-to-Z.
A:
Alter-ego – What is a superpower you wish you had?
I’m sure this is a common answer, but flying. It would be amazing to travel anywhere you want to in a matter of seconds, not to mention being in the air like superman.
B:
Band – If you were in a rock band, which instrument would you play?
I would play the guitar, even though I have absolutely no musical instrument talent at all.
C:
Couch potato – What is one TV show you watch every week?
I feel really bad to say this, but Jersey Shore has been hilarious to watch recently. I really like That 70's Show as well.
D:
Devious – What was your favorite prank to pull or one that was pulled on you?
On Halloween, someone came into the classroom at Notre Dame in a gorilla costume made a scene and then walked away, it was pretty funny.

Earplugs – What was the last concert you went to? 
New Boyz - they are a hip-hop group that sings "You’re a Jerk" and "Tie Me Down."

Fame – If you could have a star on Hollywood’s Walk-of-Fame, who would you want yours next to?
Will Smith. He is one of my favorite actors; it’s hard for movie to be bad if he is in it.

Goof – What’s your most embarrassing moment on the field?
Probably just making a really awful pass to someone with no pressure on me.

Humble – What’s one thing you aren’t very good at?
Golf - I am so terrible at it. I’m sure most people could beat me.
I:
Inspiration – Who did you look up to growing up?
Dwight York and Thierry Henry as soccer players; they were what I dreamed to be as a kid.

Job – What would you do if you weren’t playing soccer?
I probably would do information technology work for some businesses. I love computers and that is really my second passion after soccer.

Keys – Growing up, what was your dream car? Would you own it today?
A Lamborghini. I don't think it’s in my price range just yet, so no. LOL

Log Slab – What did you do with your first log slab as a member of the Timbers?
I have it stacked on top of my locker.

Music – What is your favorite song on your iPod/MP3 player right now?

Nickname – Do you have a nickname, or is there something your teammates call you?
Not really, just DK. I am not really sure if that is a nickname because that is exactly how you say my name.

OH! – What scares you the most?
Death for me is pretty scary because you do not know what to expect afterwards, but I do believe in God.

Pizza – What toppings are necessities?
Meat Trio - pepperoni, sausage and ham; my favorite easily.

Quiet – What do you like to do to unwind?
Play card games online like Spades, Hearts, Euchre or relax and watch movies
R:
Read – What was the last book you read?
I’m not sure of the exact title, but it was a book about soccer and the mental aspects of it, the preparation, training and a partial biography on a couple of great players

Superstition – Do you have any pre-game rituals or game-day routines?
I go to church the Sunday before and I do the sign of the cross before I kiss my hand and touch it to the ground on kick off.

Town – How would you best describe your hometown?
In a way Edmond, Oklahoma is kind of similar to Portland. It’s not extremely huge, but a pretty big area that is very family oriented.

Untouchable – What do you consider the most valuable in your life?
My family, enough said.
V:
Visitor – What’s your favorite city you’ve played in on the road during your career?
With the Timbers, maybe North Carolina because I liked the location of the hotel that they put us in. But Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil are my favorites of all time. I went there with Notre Dame and we played some really good teams and went to Pele museum as well.

World – What’s the farthest you’ve traveled around the world?
Nigeria - Half of my family lives there still.

X-ray – Have you broken any bones or had any serious injuries?
I never really have broken anything except for a toe which I still played through … knock on wood.

Yellow Card – What is one life lesson you learned through soccer?
You do not sit and wait for an opportunity to come to you. You make the opportunity come to you and make the most of it.
