Timbers MLS head coach John Spencer went on Portland’s 95.5 The Game Tuesday to talk about the team’s first four player signings, which included 2010 Timbers Bright Dike, Ryan Pore and Steve Cronin and former Austin Aztex forward Eddie Johnson.

Danny Mwanga, the 2010 first overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft of the Philadelphia Union, reveals he has been offered a spot on the Congolese national team but is also entertaining the possibility of instead playing for the U.S. national team, according to a Fox 12 Oregon report. The 19-year-old grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo before immigrating to Oregon, where he played at Portland’s Jefferson High School and Oregon State University.
The “Dawg Blawg” did a short Q&A session with Washington Huskies junior forward Brent Richards, who led the Portland Timbers U-23s to a perfect season and a PDL National Championship in 2010. Richards, who scored twice in a three-minute span in Washington’s 4-0 win over Oregon State this past weekend, leads the Huskies and is tied for 17th in NCAA Division I with eight goals.
