PORTLAND, Ore. – Players and staff of Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers will hit the road in January to visit with fans and conduct youth soccer clinics in four communities across the state as part of “Dribble Oregon,” presented by JELD-WEN Windows & Doors.
The four-stop community tour kicks off Sunday, Jan. 8, in the Southern Oregon community of Klamath Falls – the corporate headquarters of Timbers founding partner JELD-WEN. The Timbers visit the Willamette Valley cities of Eugene and Salem the weekend of Jan. 14-15. Dribble Oregon then wraps up in Bend on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
“As the presenting sponsor of Dribble Oregon, JELD-WEN is very excited to welcome the Portland Timbers to our hometown of Klamath Falls as the first of four stops,” said Bill Hueffner, Director of Development & Professional Relations for JELD-WEN. “It will be a fun-filled day with three different events, so there is a little something for everyone.”
In each community, the Timbers will play host to a free youth soccer clinic led by the club’s youth academy staff for children ages 5-13 and an autograph session with select Timbers players. The club will also hold a meet-and-greet with select players and mascot Timber Joey at a local pub event that’s open to the public and participate in a community event.
A detailed itinerary regarding each of the four stops along Dribble Oregon will be announced in the coming weeks; youth clinic and pub event locations are listed below.
Dribble Oregon, presented by JELD-WEN Windows & Doors, will lead the Timbers up to the start of preseason training camp at the end of January as the club begins preparation for its second MLS season in 2012.
