CARSON, Calif. — Midfielder Landon Donovan and forward Pat Noon each recorded a goal and an assist to help the LA Galaxy Reserves beat the Portland Timbers Reserves 4-0 in an MLS Reserve League match Monday at The Home Depot Center.

Defender Andrew Boyens put the Galaxy Reserves on the scoreboard first, heading home a free kick from Kenney Walker in the 30th minute, giving LA a 1-0 lead at halftime. Substitutes Donovan and Noonan each scored five minutes apart around the hour mark and forward Jack McBean capped the 4-0 win with a goal in the closing minutes of the contest.

Just three minutes after coming on in the second half, Donovan and Noonan linked up to double the Galaxy Reserves lead in the 60th minute. Donovan split the Portland defense with a through ball and Noonan finished with his right foot.

In the 65th minute, Noonan returned the favor, collecting a Donovan pass on the left wing and then crossing the ball back into the middle for Donovan, who then finished with a volley to put the Galaxy Reserves in front, 3-0.

McBean rounded out the scoring in the 82nd minute with his third goal of the MLS Reserve League season. Defender Oscar Sorto hit a weighted ball over the top of the Timbers defense, putting McBean through on goal. McBean narrowly beat goalkeeper Jake Gleeson to the pass and was able to flick a shot by into an empty net before the two collided on the play.

At the other end of the field, Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe, who played in two matches for the Timbers Reserves earlier in the season, maintained the shutout despite being tested by Portland forwards Kris Boyd and Danny Mwanga.

With the win, the Galaxy Reserves improve to 5-3-1 (16pts) on the season while the Timbers Reserves sit at 3-5-1 (10pts) in MLS Reserve League play.

The Timbers Reserves conclude their 2012 MLS Reserve League slate on Sunday when they play host to the Sounders FC Reserves at JELD-WEN Field at 2 p.m. (Pacific). Tickets, priced at $10, are available for purchase at the JELD-WEN Field box office.
