Jewsbury's classy strike runs away with AT&T GotW vote

Jack Jewsbury #4, Timbers @ Whitecaps, 10.21.12

It was going to take something out of the ordinary for the Portland Timbers to win on the road this season. Jack Jewsbury delivered more than that. He conjured up something almost magical.

After Franck Songo'o laid the ball off to Jewsbury, who was a full 10-yards outside the box in the left channel, the holding midfielder swung his right foot through the ball, sending it on a beeline into the top corner as 'Caps goalkeeper Brad Knighton made a token effort on what was an unstoppable shot.

"It doesn't get better than that," Timbers' broadcaster Robbie Earle said, summing the play up nicely.

Predictably, the votes came flooding in for the Portland stalwart (53 percent of votes), leaving the other four contenders to fight for the scraps in the second-to-last AT&T Goal of the Week vote of the season.
