In the 2012 MLS season finale, David Horst had a big job: Stop Wondo. The San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski was eagerly chasing the single season goal scoring record needing two goals to break it.
He got one on a PK in the first half. And that was it. Bright Dike scored an equalizer in the second half and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Wondo's failure to break the record was due in large part to the strong presence of the stalwart Horst. Goal-saving tackles, imposing play, and helping command his backline all played key parts in the match.
And with 35% of the vote, you agreed. David Horst is your CenturyLink Man of the Match. With his honor, he becomes the team leader with 5 MOTM designations in 2012.
