The excitement heading into Sunday evening's huge rivalry match between the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders could be felt across the city. Social media was no different with fans across the country buzzing before, during and after the match.
A fantastic opening tifo display from the Timbers Army, a late first half laser from Kalif Alhassan, a series of fine saves from Donovan Ricketts plus some help from the woodwork all contributed to a dramatic Portland 1-0 victory over Seattle. The critical three points put the Timbers to the top of the Western Conference and into a tie on points with New York Red Bulls for the race for the Supporters' Shield.
Along with a slew of tweets and posts, the Backcut Podcast spent the afternoon picking up sounds of the game and talking with fans, coaches, and players to give a sense of the exciting match.
